Do you have a good mechanic? Most major Detroit shops won’t touch it after the ECM is cleared. The two major reasons are, 1 Only by the book, because, mechanics are no longer thinkers. 2 Liability, It’s all about the liability. I really don’t blame them because lawsuits are expensive. With that said, if your looking to get a lot more horse power out of your truck and you’re a good mechanic, (or have one) then you can change the intake and turbo and set the ECM, and wow-wee you can get it all for about 5,000 plus DOLLARS. All that for a little over 100 horses. The Ugly Fix is all about performance, period. Our chip works the same way the flashing does but, and there is always a but, when you install this chip and it talks to the computer, (it DOES NOT erase it), it sets the EGR and the turbo, to get maximum performance from your engine with out pushing it past its limitations. As intelligent business owners, as I’m sure you are, do you want to spend a lot or a little, to get the same effect? At today’s prices I would think a little is the way to go. Need to take it to the shop? Unplug it, plug in the Altimeter and no one knows. It wont give any indication it was even there. Get your work done and plug it back in and go…. EGR an engine killer. 1 Shortened engine lubricant life 2 Increased carbon/soot deposits throughout the engine 3 Reduced engine performance 4 Reduced fuel economy 5 Increased emissions 6 both minor and catastrophic powertrain component/engine failure/reduced engine/equipment life 7 Damaged emission controls IE, EGR, Turbo, Internal engine cylinders. 8 Cost of Time, Expense and Inconvenience to the operator/end user. Depending on the use of the vehicle, these problems can crop up in a very short time and even in ideal conditions they will still develop. It is quite evident that the researchers are still trying to identify cause and effect of the problem and from my reading they have no solution to the problem. EGR’s appear to be a very expensive technology over the long haul for reducing Nox emissions. For the diesel engine operator of any kind, truck, bus, equipment operator or Car. It appears it is not a matter of if they will have a problem caused by Cooled EGR? It is a matter of when? And more importantly how severe will the problem will be? So fix the problem before you have EGR issues. (It is the best time). I hope this helps in your decision.
